RTIP Mourns Liz Bracken

Nov. 25, 2019

It is with great sadness that the RTIP announces the passing of Associate Coordinator Liz Bracken. Since 2013, RTIP students’ academic careers have boosted thanks to her knowledge, expertise and mentorship.

Liz’s classes created the administrative foundation for students in racing management, wagering and the racing office.  She has been the faculty member carrying the torch of the classic project undertaken by all RTIP students “since the beginning” – the matrix project, the completion of which is a true rite of passage.

Outside the classroom, Liz was an incredible mentor thanks to her vast knowledge of the industry and her contacts, garnered through 16 years at NYRA - culminating as vice president of simulcasting – and previous years at various tracks across the US as an assistant racing secretary, stakes coordinator, and placing judge.  Her depth of knowledge helped guide students to just the right opportunities to fulfill their career goals.

Not only was Liz a natural with the students but she was an incredible asset to the Program through her leadership during the Symposium and throughout the year.  The faculty, staff and students will miss her more than can be expressed.
